Consumers will soon be allowed to install up to two plug-in solar panels without a reporting obligation.
This was reported by De Tijd based on information from the Flemish Energy and Climate Agency. Plug-and-play batteries and solar panels will be permitted in Flanders from April 17.
In a conversation with Solar Magazine, the industry association PV-Vlaanderen expressed concerns last December regarding safety and fair competition. The association argued that the same regulations should apply to plug-and-play installations as to fixed installations. Otherwise, there is a risk that traditional inverters will be plugged into a socket in the future to bypass certain obligations.
Nevertheless, it has now been confirmed that there will be no reporting obligation to grid operator Fluvius for the use of plug-in home batteries and solar panels.
In Wallonia, however, a reporting obligation will be introduced. From April 17, Flemish households will be allowed to connect up to two plug-in solar panels.
In Wallonia, such a reporting obligation will apply.
